Character Name: karna
Canon: fate/ (i am taking him from grand order to make this easier)
Canon Point: post order call three, i will not be spoiling anything to make it easier
Character Age: he's....ancient, i often say he looks young. like early to mid-twenties.
History: wiki here
Division: security, karna isn't the sort of man that enjoys sitting around and doing nothing. he's often the first one to get ready to go in when a fight starts and is a calm presence for mediation. karna also is the sort to enact justice as necessary, while not being unfair to both parties about whatever punishments he must give. he doesn't wish harm upon those who show remorse, but the remorseless shall be met with the full extent of his fury, as they often do. he takes his role as a protector seriously, his role as a warrior as one, too.
Edict: sorrowmeld. as a person, karna has taken upon his shoulders the dreams and wishes of those that aided in his growth whenever he once was a youth full of ruthless cruelty from not knowing his true mother or what love she could have given him. he would ask them questions, he would listen to their stories, and he'd even take in everything they said. lies did not matter, he saw through them, truth was something he held closely to his heart. to those that knew him, he was considered a saint in his kindness and his desire to take under his wing those who could not fight. he offered his wealthy generously, he fought with everything he had, and karna would even take being cursed many times throughout his life for the sake of their dreams. it does not matter where or what path their life took, karna would fight on forever for his brothers and sisters. despite how it ended, this was his choice. he has no regrets in his death, karna even treats his life as a servant as more of a chance to fight strong opponents instead of wanting the grail for himself as another testament to his character.
Powers:
vasavi shakti: this noble phantasm of karna's is used through the spear indra gave him. karna embraces the sun and unleashes every bit of mana and power that he has to shoot out the flames within his body through this divine spear to end those who are on the receiving end in one fatal strike.
brahmastra kundala: a nuclear level hidden noble phantasm, capable of destroying countries. karna uses it by throwing his lance as projectile with the sweltering heat of his flame filled mana. this noble phantasm is his hidden trump card, and is one he does not use that often because of it.
mana burst (flame): mana burst in general is whenever someone unleashes mana within their hands, weapons, etc. karna's is prominent and considered eternal, any weapons he touches will be enhanced by flames and depending might break to pieces from a full swing if it's not his actual lance or something that can handle it. it applies to his fists too and his body.
discernment of the poor: karna as a person does not look at others by words, but by what they are as people. deceptions fail to work on him and excuses fall flat. thanks to it, he is able to discern a person's true nature by speaking to them. the more they lie and refuse to be truthful, the more he notices that they are attempting to deceive him and hide something. there is a way around him noticing were someone to manipulate others into speaking to him for them with what they believe is true, though it's not guaranteed to always work were karna to notice something off in their mannerisms based upon what he knows of them. shirou amakusa has used this method before to control him by manipulating his master in apocrypha as a means of ensuring karna did not see through his schemes.
uncrowned martial arts: to those who do not know his name, his mastery of arms with swords, lances, and bows appear lower than they truly are. unfortunately for karna it doesn't always stay this way since his name is so famous that people learn quickly who he is and removes this restriction meant to give him an advantage.
As the Ascendants deemed your character worthy of being on this exploration voyage, what qualities did they observe in your character that they found appropriate for the mission?
it would have to be his calmness, his bravery, and his ability to often act quickly. karna doesn't allow himself to sit idle and takes it upon himself to do as he sees fit for the sake of others. this mission would not change that, if anything it'd only drive him forward with a desire to learn these stories and about the people of different races, different creeds. to him, he doesn't mind any of it, while also proving to be useful in his own way. he won't let down anyone that believes in him, the same way that karna would give his all for the mission and dedicate himself to doing what is right. he is a man of honor, a man that doesn't go back on his word at any time when it is given to others.
What is your character's best quality, what is their worst, and how do these two qualities affect each other?
for karna, this is a simple answer. his courage is his best quality, his refusal to never surrender in the face of despair happens to be a shining beacon to those who were to witness it. an inspiration while offering kindness instead of a cold cruelty when it matters most, this is how he's always been in his willingness to face the unknown with everything that he has. but, the issue is that he also is self-sacrificial to the point of hurting himself often in response. karna has from that been cursed multiple times, even ripped his skin off from giving indra who had disguised himself at the time his golden armor. it's a rather unfortunate circumstance, but his courage and self-sacrifice often causes karna to take risks that he would get hurt from too much. it didn't matter if he knows the other person or not, he'd sadly give so much of himself that he'd burn out before it's over.
Your character's Edict appears in front of them, and agrees to grant them one wish: what does your character wish for?
truly, karna would tell the sorrowmeld that he has no wish in life. not from something like refusing it due to finding himself unworthy, but because karna has felt not regrets about any part of his life. not his life, not his death. as unusual as it is, he would turn down the wish instead of taking it. some might think him stupid, foolish, or even call him a variety of names for rejecting it, but this is simply karna. he needs nothing in life and is content with all that he has and was given. the start did not matter, his destination is not something he would ever change.
The Theorem has broken down, and is drifting toward a black hole. There is very little hope of outside rescue. What does your character do?
if he must do something, karna would take the burden of searching for help upon his shoulders. he would attempt to search for it, no matter how bleak it is, he'd wish to inspire the crew and tell them to hold on to hope. to never surrender to despair, that something can be done, and they all must do everything that they must to survive. he isn't good at words, worse at conversation, but it'd do little to stop him from taking what hope remains and spreading it like warm fire. if he finds help, he would not let down his comrades while hoping they make it back in time. if he does not? then he'd offer what little he has, be it his life, or otherwise, to save the crew and the ship. it's a large risk, but he often knows how life or death situations tend to go from his time alive. karna would never give up.
